In my wildlife photography I look for four elements, the animal of course, the environment that the animal lives in and a pleasing composition. Finally, does the photograph invite close inspection once a viewer focuses on it and decides they need to know more.
Since animals do not take direction too well I must exhibit patience, be willing to admit failure, and be a brutal editor of my own work. I have thousands of African images but will be offering less than fifty as it is only a few that live up to my standards in all four categories.
I guess there is a fifth category and that is how well does the image display on a wall and is it possible to live with it every day. I put my photographs to the test by hanging them in my own home. After all what I am doing here is selling wall art and hoping to push it passed the description of "decoration".
